A Warlock from the realm of Syrtis.

Warlocks (a subclass of the Mage) are one of the most powerful damage dealers, and the top area nukers in the game. However, getting caught by surprise or getting too close can turn them in the easiest to kill class. Able to cast effective combat control spells, drain life and mana, deal fast elemental or physical damage, cause damage over time, and use many of the strongest curses, makes warlocks the most dangerous part of any army. Sadly, along with poor defensive skills, it makes it one of the most targeted classes too. But also this can be used as an advantage by experienced players.

Things to consider when choosing to play a Warlock

  • Do I like to be a 'glass cannon' and have devastating power but little or no defense?
  • Do I like having the most effective area spells in the game?
  • Do I like being relatively effective on warriors but less effective on archers?
  • Do I like having the most control spells (spells to prevent the opponent from attack, moving, casting spells etc.)?
  • Do I like having less effectiveness on single targets than some other offensive classes but having more powerful area spells?
  • Do I like being able to drain an enemy's health and mana?
  • Do I like depending on this health draining ability to survive for the most part?

Disciplines

The Warlock subclass has 3 subclass specific disciplines:

  • Arcania: Uses magic as kinetic energy to move stones, earth and wind. The warlocks physical damage source.
  • Necromancy: Life draining, demonic curses and chaotic spells come with this dark discipline.
  • Elemental: Lightning, fire and ice. A wide arsenal of offensive magic based in elemental damage.

Skills

As with all classes, each discipline of the Warlock contains 10 skills. The skills for each discipline in order of lowest to highest level required are:

Arcania

  • Stalagmite: Deals piercing damage.
  • Slow: Reduces the target's movement speed.
  • Petrify Hands: A powerful accuracy reduction, extremely potent on those below level 40.
  • Laziness: Reduces the target's damage. [bugged]
  • Meteor: Deals fire and blunt damage and dizzies the target.
  • Wind Wall: Gives the warlock a chance of blocking ranged attacks and spells, for a short period of time.
  • Crystal Blast: Deals slashing damage to those in front of the warlock.
  • Fragility: Reduces the target's physical defense. [bugged]
  • Golem Fist: Deals a very large amount of blunt damage.
  • Sultar's Terror: Knocks down all targets within 10 meters of the original target (who is also effected) and deals high slashing, piercing and blunt damage.

Necromancy

  • Vampirism: Drains health from the target.
  • Darkness: The target cannot receive positive spells including self-buffs.
  • Infuriate: Reduces the target's armor points.
  • Vitality Absorption: Passive. For each point of damage the warlock deals, a percentage is added back to the wounded warlock's health.
  • Corrupt Blood: Deals fire damage and reduces the target's strength.
  • Sadistic Servants: Drains mana from the target over time and adds to the warlock's own reserve.
  • Soulkeeper: Drains a large amount of health from the target (up to 1000), adds to the warlock's own reserve, and reduces the target's strenght.
  • Sadistic Guards: Reduces the target's spell resist chance. [bugged]
  • Possess Summoning: Allows the warlock to possess an enemy conjurer's summon with a certain chance of success (100% at level 5).
  • Master of Doom: Creates a darkness aura with a radius of 15 meters around the warlock. Enemies effected by it cannot cast spells and have reduced Constitution.

Elements

  • Fireball: Deals fire damage to a target and enemies within 6 meters of the original target.
  • Ice Blast: Deals ice damage over time to a target.
  • Lightning: Deals lightning damage over time to a target.
  • Elemental Conjunction: Passive. The warlock has increased elemental defense.
  • Freeze: Freezes the target. While frozen, the target cannot do anything but also cannot be attacked and it is therefore used to buy time.
  • Frozen Storm: Freezes a target and enemies within 6 meters of it with up to 80% chance. 100% chance of doing ice damage over time to the target.[bugged]
  • Elemental Exposure: Reduces the target's elemental defense.
  • Magma Blast: Deals an initial amount of fire damage to a target, then deals fire damage over time which cannot be reduced by armor.
  • Twister: Area attack that prevents the original target and other enemies within 6 meters from moving. Also deals blunt damage over time.
  • Summon Lightning: Area attack that deals lightning damage over time to the original target and targets within 10 meters. Also reduces the strength of all enemies in the area by 20%.
