A Hunter tracks a realm enemy.

Hunters are a unique class. Depending on their disciplines they can be either great foes in fair pvp, or silent backstabbers that strike enemies in their moments of weakness. Choosing this subclass means giving up on the accuracy and damage boosts of the Marksman, but allows the use of more interesting spells and abilities. Hunters are weak compared to the other five subclasses, with no real power improvements. With that in mind, they need to use and sometimes abuse of their stealthing techniques to be able to win. This has given them quite a bad reputation. Having a hunter in the group means always being prepared, they can quickly track surroundings to find enemies. Higher lvl hunters can get better data like lvl and class of each enemy. Combining this with their area stealth spell can lead to successful ambushes and surprise attacks. One last thing about them, is that hunters can tame wild creatures and name them, mainly animals and monsters. Buffed pets can get very annoying when their master hops around and evades all your strikes. So before facing a hunter one needs think it trough first. Bad luck, hunters tend to choose their battles and you will always be taken by surprise.

Things to consider when choosing to play a Hunter

  • Do I like to run fast?
  • Do I like to have a pet?
  • Do I like to be able to choose my fights?
  • Do I like to know about most of my enemies before I see them?
  • Do I like to be able to turn invisible?
  • Do I like to be depended on for tracking enemies when in groups?
  • Do I like to deal low damage but have very good speed, evasion and other tricks?
  • Do I like to depend on creativity and skill in combat rather than high damage attacks?

Disciplines

The Hunter subclass has 2 subclass specific disciplines:

  • Scouting: this discipline enables the hunter to track, turn invisible and run faster.
  • Pets: this discipline enables the hunter to tame wild creatures and enhance their powers.

Skills

As with all classes, each discipline of the Hunter contains 10 skills. The skills for each discipline in order of lowest to highest level required are:

Scouting

  • Track Monster: tracks monsters.
  • Ensnaring Arrow: deals damage and reduces an opponent's speed.
  • Track Ally: tracks allies.
  • Head of the Pack: Increases damage with each opponent in the vicinity [bugged].
  • Track Realm Enemy: gives some detail on far away realm enemies.
  • Wild Spirit: passive movement speed increase.
  • Enemy Surveillance: high detail on far away realm enemies.
  • Camouflage: prevents other players from seeing the hunter.
  • Sentinel: increases the hunter's concentration.
  • Stalker Surroundings: prevents other players from seeing the hunter and a certain number of allies in the hunter's vicinity upon casting the spell for a long amount of time at the cost of the ability to do anything.

Pets

  • Calm Creature: frees pets from the effect of Taunt [bugged].
  • Tame Lesser Creature: allows the hunter to tame snakes, lizards, insects and spiders.
  • Performance: increases the pet's evasion.
  • Tame Beast: allows the hunter to tame four-legged beasts.
  • Training: increases the pet's maximum health passively.
  • Tame Monsters: allows the hunter to tame two-legged creatures.
  • Bestial Wrath: increases the pet's damage while reducing its evasion by 100%.
  • Natural Armor: passively increases the pet's armor points.
  • Revive Pet: allows the hunter to ressurect a dead pet with some limitations.
  • Skin of the Beast: temporarily gives the pet a high amount of defense (up to 90% damage resistance).
