Regnum Online

Regnum Online is a fantasy massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) developed by NGD Studios, a game development studio located in Argentina. In addition to usual character development present in other games of the genre, the game focuses on the conflict of 3 realms in which players take part, fighting against characters of opposing factions and capturing fortresses and castles aside from the usual player vs monster combats.

Regnum Online is free to play, but Premium Content options can be purchased. The game can be experienced in English, Spanish, or German-language environments.

The Basics

Realms

Regnum Online's characters belong to one of the three realms: Syrtis, Ignis and Alsius. The three realms are in constant war with each other, and players from one realm cannot speak or trade with players from another realm in any way. The only interaction enemy players have with each other is in the form of combat.

A player may choose the realm he wishes to join upon creating their 1st character. After that, they cannot switch realms unless they delete all their characters on that server. A maximum of 3 characters per server is allowed, extensible via Premium Content to 6 characters per server.

Each realm is seperated in 3 areas: The initiation zone, where new characters are spawned, the inner realm, which is the main land of the realm, and the war zone part of that realm.

Iniation Zone

The initiation zone is not accessible via normal means of travel such as horses, walking or running, but only via an NPC teleporter that connects it to the inner realm. Initiation zones of each realm have 2 small villages with NPC's that give the first quests, trade normal and premium items and train characters in disciplines.

Inner Region

The inner region of each realm is separated from the war zone as well by what is called "The Great Wall", and is connected to the war zone via a realm's Great Gate. Each realm's inner region contains 2 big cities and 2 villages with merchant and trainer NPC's

War Zone

The war zone regions of all realms are interconnected via two bridges between each realm (six bridges in total). They contain each realms forts and castle, and some merchant NPC's, but no trainer or premium merchant NPC's.

Races

Each realm has 3 different races the player can choose from to create a character. Each race has different starting stats and class limitations, and of course, different appearance. An overview of each race available to each realm and it's starting stats and available classes can be found in the home page of this wiki.

Creating a Character

When the user is presented with the character creation screen, the first thing they need to choose is the realm their character is going to be in, unless this in not their first character in that server. After this, they need to choose a race and a class for their character, as well as customize it's appearance by adjusting the height, face, hair and hair color (and beard, if available for that race) of their character. The next step is to assign 5 extra points to their starting stats. After that, the user can pick a name for their character and create it.

Gameplay

The main focus of the game is on PvP (player versus player) combat, or as the term for games like this is, RvR (realm versus realm). The player will spend time leveling their character in order to become more efficient in combat versus opposing realms. PvE (player vs environment) has a minor role in the game, and it's sole purpose is to gain experience and items.

PvE

The PvE aspect of the game is lacking, there is no reason to do PvE combat other than gaining experience and items. There are bosses available to kill that require big groups of players to take down, that give powerful items. There are regular mobs on every area of the map except cities.

PvP

The PvP combat is what the game is all about. Players will engage in combat with other players in a non-instanced, free-for-all type of area called The War Zone, trying to capture forts and castles, hunting down and killing enemy players, controlling key points on the map such as popular grinding spots, bridges etc.
