Altaruk is the capital city of Ignis, and it's the first city players of that realm will arrive at after exiting the beginner zone. It's the place where level 10 players can gain their subclass, so it's the only Ignean city that has both class and subclass trainers. Altaruk has the most NPCs, including both merchants and denizens, and heavy armed high level guards. It's the place where most quests are obtanied, including the main quest chains of the elemental altars and the runic stones.
Altaruk was built by the Dark Elves and Skelios after being banished from Syrtis. Not having access to quality materials, the city is mainly built from wood, assorted stones, and hay. However the design is very advanced and it's prepared to face invasions. Altaruk is located on the side of a mountain, so the main wall provides a very easy to defend location, and most enemies are likely to fall before reaching the top. Even after that warriors can fight and retreat strategically through 3 more levels, in which archers and mages will use guerrilla tactics to tire and destroy their enemies.
